Who predicted the Tonys most successfully?
In the run-up to the Tonys, many Broadway YouTubers shared their predictions for the winners, and the results were all over the map. StageStreams looked at five such videos, from Andres Lafrazia, Katharine Quinn, MickeyJoTheatre, Gold Derby, and Broadway Best Friend. The categories analyzed were Best Musical, Best Revival of a Musical, Best Book, Best Score, Best Leading Actor in a Musical, and Best Leading Actress in a Musical.
All five prognosticators thought Merrily We Roll Along would win Best Revival, and it did. All five prognosticators thought Stereophonic would win Best Score, and it did not (the winner was Suffs.) The other categories had split predictions, with only Andres and Katharine correctly predicting Best Musical (The Outsiders). A few predictors took risks, such as MickeyJo predicting Eddie Redmayne (Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club) as Best Leading Actor in a Musical. But with the exception of MickeyJo, who got them all wrong except Merrily, each prognosticator predicted half or more of the six major categories correctly.
The most prophetic of the five was Andres Lafrazia, whose channel is highlighted below. Andres predicted five out of six correctly. Congratulations!
Our editor and host Haley also got five out of six right. How did you do? Did the best show and performers win? Respond in the comments.

Channel spotlight:
Andres Lafrazia 2.0 is a small-ish channel with an excellent and important niche. Andres makes videos on many aspects of musical theater (Tony predictions, reviews, and reactions) but really makes his mark with his weekly rundown of Broadway grosses. If you want to know which shows are the most successful and which might be facing the end of their run, this channel is worth checking out. Andres has a comfort with the camera and wide-ranging knowledge of today’s Broadway that makes Andres Lafrazia 2.0 an essential resource for Broadway YouTube fans.
REMINDER: I’m always looking for excellent content and excellent channels to include in future issues. Send your best links to StageStreamsSubstack@gmail.com. See you next month!
